OVER EIGHT HUNDRED
Is the Amount of UmitrihntionK for the V. II. ft. A.
t«» Diite.
The fund for the Young Men’s Christian asso
ciation does not swell as rapidly as tho im
portance of it demands. Only $75 was received
in subscriptions at this office yesterday, and that I
amount was handed us by two members of the j
committee--two of the four who have handed us
all the subscriptions hereto ore. The contribu
tors are
Charles Monroe $ 10
Walter Curtis 5
J. IC. Orr 10
John Blackmar 10
Polk Harris 5
C A. Lovelace & Co
Dr. C. D. Hurt
B H. Crawford
Glass Brothers
Received yesterday $ 75
Received previously 727
Making total received $802
16 is gratifying that even this amount has been
contributed, and still mote gratifying that it has
been done so cheerfully, but the amount should
have been much larger by this time. Let each
member of the committee do his duty, and let the
people do their duty, and by Sunday morning the
Enquirer-Sun will be able le chronicle the fact
that the requisite amount lias been contributed.
There should be no hesitation in this matter—we
owe it to the young men of the town—our boys
and our neighbors’ hoys—to carry this project to
success. Let everyone feel the responsibility
that is actually resting upon him, and tho money
would be raised in an hour. Don’t wait to be
solicited, but let the Enquirer-Sun know*what
amount you will contribute and it will be given
to the prooer persons. Do this in case you fail to
see a member of the committee.

A Well Pleased Crowd
are those people who have attended DeHaven’s
Dime Circus and Menagerie. Only think, what
an immense spread of canvass, and then De-
Haven could not accommodate the crowds. First
standing room only was announced, and then
the entrance was obliged to be closed —the tent
was frill of people—and DeHaven’s splendid show
and the low prices of admission did the work. Go
early and avoid the rush. Take the Rose Hill
car and get out at the main entrance.
