Not a great while since, Judge Lump kin was organizing the superior court in Madison county. The court was delayed by n search for a Bible upon which* to swear the jury. There lives in Lumpkin county a preacher, whose wealtli is estimated at |2000, uni yet he allows Ids mother to be placed on the poor list of the county, and is absolutely careless to the want's and necessities of this aged one who should be the dearest to his heart, and even allows 1 her to wander from one place to another i v,.,j in search of a home. The man claims to >■' be a Methodist preacher, and is known to live well and have plenty. A gentleman from Madison county says that Seagraves, the white youth who killed a little negro on Dr. Simpson’s place has not yet been captured, and is thought to have made good his escape. The dead boy was reared by and bound to Dr. Thompson, who thought a great deal of him. That gentleman is outraged at the killing, and says he wiil lind young Seagraves and bring bill! injustice if bo is in Georgia. He is taking every step possible to this end. Tiie negroes of the county areenrag, d over the killing, ami indignant at the sheriff. They say that Seagraves was in his father’s house while that officer was in search of him, and lie knew it. lint would not cuter to take him.
