We had, with the llxoliesl anticipa
tions ol good to result Tom tho measure,
the passage of this bill by tho Senate of
Georgia. It appears to have been ant
dud ho to increase the commission or
pr..ll sloan am* util greater llnoi that
originally proposed, but u could, per
haps, hardly havo boon ex pet tod that the
Legislature would make ns thorough a
reform as tho limes demand at one swoop.
The hill passed by th .senate inaugurate*
a system that wo believe will .prove
highly beneficial in its operation, oven
thoughmot ns efficient at first as it may
i o made. If so, time and experience will
no d »ubt per feu t it and ensure to the pub
lic the greatest amount of good that such
a measure may produce.
The prompt passage of thi- bill by the
Henate give,* us strong hope that it will
pas* the House also. The principle up
which it is based is tho suppression of
speculation m the necessaries of lifo du* 1 lK K'* To
ring tho war, and the prevention ot j °f “Ilshat

The special order, the bill to provide
for the endorsement of Confederate bonds,
was taken up at 11 o'clock, and occupied
the remainder of the morning *a*-i<‘n.
In tho altornoon, the Henate referred
thn impre-smenl resolution* to a special
committee, and appointed a joint commit
tee to prepare an address to the cotton
planter*. It also pa*-« d the bill to char

kn tho House, the majority of the com-
mitten on Cotton Planting reported, a* a
compromise, a bill to tax every nero or
fraction over two acre* to thn hand $76.
Tho minority reported In favor of an ad
dress to Iho planter* to plnnt grain. The
minority report was received in lieu of
tho original bill, nnd adoptnd.
Tho bill to organize n State Guard wn*
re-considered by tho ITouso.
The Clerk ol the House reported th-

W'fiinrtdny, Hth.—The H«*nn‘> v/a- en

tion of the bill to endorse Confederate
bonds, without making any disposition
of tho quo* ion. In the afternoon it pn*s-

bill to prevent tho dlrtlllaleui of grain.
It is to tnko effect from the 2Uth inrt. •
Th" Houki spent tho day in tho dis

Mr. Vaton forcibly advocated endorse
