Returns from thia county, as far as beard from, give Roilina between eighteen and nine teen hundred majority Maurice, iununcipa- tiouist, is elected to tbe Legislature. In Cooper county, Rollins has two hundred and seventy majority. Stewart, Democrat, has majorities in Cole and Howard counties. The Kansas correspondent to the Democrat, says Gov. Walker ia still encamped near I-awrence with an increased force. Missouri Elections. St. Louis, Aug. 7. Thirty-eight counties have been heard from and Col. James S. Rollins, the American can- didate bos a majority of 4,170 votes. His op ponent was Col. U. M. Stewart, the Anti-Bcn- ton uud pro8lavery Democratic candidate. The Democrats have elected Joseph B. Clark, in the Third Congressional District, to supply a vacancy caused by the election of James L- Greene to the United States Senate. North Carolina Elections. Washington, Aug.' We have heard nothing reliable about the result of the election in North Curoliua. SECOND DISPATCH. Washington, Aug. 1 (9J o’clock, p. m.)—From North Carolina partial returns received. Everything Demo cratic so far. Texas Elections. New Qbleaks, Ang. 7. The returns from Texas indicate the elec tion of Runnels, Democratic candidate for Governor, by twelve thousand majority. No opposition to Democratic candidates elected to the Ijegislature, so fur as heard from. Indian Disturbances at Fort Illley. St. Louis, Aug. 7. The Kansas Herald says that the Cheynne Indians have invested Fort Riley, where only a half company of Infantry are stationed. Ail the settlers, who were fortunate in reaching it, imve sought refuge and protection in the Fort, and many persons hove beeD murdered. Go„ vernor Walker has ordered Col. Cook’s coni' mand to the relief of the Fort and the settlers. Rochester, Aug. 5. In Clarkson county, yesterday, a Mrs. Marsh, who has been for some time deranged, attempted the murder of her three children by pouring hot water into their ears. One will die from the effects of the injury sustained.— 7’he miserable mother then committed suicide by hanging. Dayton, Ohio, Aug. 6. The American State Convention has nomin ated CoL Van Trump for Governor. Mobile Market. Friday, Aug. 7. Sales of Cotton for the week 300 bales, and the receipts for the same time 114 bales, a- gainst 700 last year. The decrease at Mobile is 131,000 bales, and middliug quoted at 15 esnts. New York Market. Friday, Aug. 7. The Cotton market shows on advancing tendency, and middling Orleans quoted at 15 5-8c., and middling uplands 15 3-8e. Breadstufts are firmer. Naval Stores steady. Rice higher and quoted at $5 3-5. New Orleans Market. Friday, Aug. 7. Sake of Cotto* to day 350 bales at 14 7-8 to \5c. for middling. Sales of the week 4,100 bales, and the receipts 440. The decrease at thia port 249,729, and at all the ports, 584,- 200 bales. Flour and wheat are dull—other articles unchanged. Washington, Aug. G Advices from Leavenworth announce that au organized gang of murders have been dis covered in Kansas, and that two of the gaDg have been hung. Great excitement prevail among all classes at this discovery. Boston, Mass., Aug. 6. A gale occurred iu the Province of St. Johns, on tbe 22d July .which destroyed sixty fishiDg boats—fifty bodies were picked up, and fears are entertained that many more lives were lost.
