On Saturday lust amnle, the properly of
Mr.^ohp W. Ransom, os Russell county, Al
abama, was violently attacked with cholic in
the street in Columbus, wus very inueli swol
len, and from nil appearance could live but u
short time unless relieved. Two ounces, li
quid measure, of Eureka Oil was administered,
and in five minutes relief was perceptible ,and
in twenty minutes the animal was entirely re
lieved-
This new and valuable mixture is certainly
□great acquisition to the list of remedies here-
tofore before the public, which, in addition to
the many reliefs it has given man, is now

Consul. Thomas Gillau, a Portuguese, hud

Coffee at Rio had advanced 100 reals—the
new crop being small.
The supplies of flour were limited.
St. Louis, Aug. 17.
Eighty counties have bean heard from offi
cially. It will require full returns of the re
maining counties to determine the result for
Governor. Rollins, American, and Stewart,
Democrat, are nearly equal iu number of votes
so far.

of thirty eight votes.
Baltimore, Aug. IG.
An explosion took place at the City Gas
Works this afternoon. The roof the purifying
house was blown off Two men were injured.
None were killed.

Advices from Fort Kearney state that a
party of nineteen drovers, in charge of up
wards of 1,800 cattle, destined to the Utah
expedition, wero attacked when twenty-
seven miles above the Fort, on the 1st inst.,
by 250 Cheyenne Indians.
All the cattle and twenty mules ran off—
One of the drovers was killed and another
severely wounded. None of the Indians
were slain. Col. Sumner had started in pttr-
suit’of the Indians.
St. Louis, attg. 14.—Rumor says tha,
Gen’ls Lane and Robinson, and Messrs,
Phillips. Conway, Blood, and others, have
been indicted by the Grand Jury of Lec.omp*
