Beautiful Woman.
It is said that tbo most beautiful women
are to be found in the ranks of tin; nobility.
The present Duchess of .Sutherland and the
late lady Islessingtou, may be mentioned as
types; but the beauty ni the Lady Messing,
ton was of a higher intellectual style than that
of the Duchess of Sutherland. The present
Duchess of Wellington, formerly Marchio
ness of Dooro, is as beautiful as a fine piece of
sculpture, and as cold and inanimate. The
great Sheridan family were remarkable for
their beauty. The two sons were regarded as
the handsomest men of their day -The three
daughters—the Don. Mrs. Norton. Lady
Blackwood, and Lady Seymour, werepronoim-
ced at the famous Eglinton Tournament aa
the Three Graces of England. The wo
men of France ace not generally beautiful,
but very atiracting and charming. Tin art

agreed to deliver to plaintff 15.000 bushels
of corn during the lost half of June, at a|
stipulated price, to bu paid ou delivery, which !
. fondant failed to perform, and plaintiff
claimed damages for the failure, corn baviDg
advanced largely in price in the meantime, j
Defendant filed several pleas, setting forth
that at the time ot making the contract he had
not the corn, which fact was known to the
plaintiff; that therefore it was a wager con
tract, and void in law To these pleas the j
plaintiff demurred, nod the demurrer was ar

fendant, who contended that the fact of sell'

cause to overrule 'be demurrer and prrinit the
