<Vom the Boston Traveller :
The decline from the highest point is now
over 3 cents a pound, and there, is a strong
probability that the bottom is not yet half
reached. When tliejdecline had reached only
one-half the present amount, a tew weeks
since, the New York Independent estimated
that on the stock of 85,000 tons of sugar,
and 4,000,000 gallons of molasses, held in
that port alone, the loss was then (Vtllr $3,-
300,000. Of course it must be double that
now, and if this loss is made on that stored
in New York alone, what must it be on the
va-t quantity afloat, in store in Europe anil
in the l nitcd States, and the stocks on hand
iu the sugar exporting countries. It cannot
| be U .-s than $30,000,000already, and as the
| tendency is steadily downward, it will prolt-
i ably reach a 100,000,000 before the dealers
’ will lie able to touch the next crop.
