which contains some Important warnings.
Mr. Benton is an experienced, well-inform
ed, and most pertinacious politician. His
honor, wc believe, is - unimpeachable, and

New York, Nov. 22.—The Crescent City
has arrived. She was allowed to enter the
port of Havana, and wa> treated with cour
tesy by the authorities; she landed her pas
sengers and. mails, but Purset Smith was
not permitted to go ashore. Captain Da
venport was informed that the Crescent Ci
ty would not be suffered to enter the harbor
again with Smith 011 board. To this Cap-
lain Davenport replied that Smith would

stealing, plead guilty, and sentenced to three
years’ imprisonment in the Penitentiary.
A young man by the name of Hubbard
Carlton was sentenced to the Penitentiary
for three years, for larceny from the person.
Carlton says lie is a citizen of Massachusetts,
arrived in Macon 011 Tuesday evening, com
mitted the larceny 011 Wednesday evening,
was'arrested- and arraigned 011 Thursday,
plead guilty and was seutenced lo the Pen
itentiary on Friday.—Macon Telegraph.
