Banks and business houses closed. Every person in the place had cholera symptoms. In some large families only taro are left No cause. The city is clean, and occupies on* of the highest points between Evansville and Cairo. CxxcnnrATX, July 19. Six cholera deaths occured at Carthage among Hol landers who had just arrived. Bad food was the cause. No other cases have been reported. Columbus. O., July 19. Two convicts died of cholera, making thirteen. The city is unusually healthy. Memphis, July 19. The Board of Health officially announces that the cholera diseased* disappearing. No new cases or deaths have been reported for the past week. Its Appearance In London — Ravages in Vienna. A special edition of the Daily News this afternoon announces that a large Carlist force had been defeated by Government troops at Ignolola in the Province of Barcelona, after a battle of eighteen hours, during which the town was frequently taken, and last by op posing forces. The number of dead and wounded left upon the field is so large that all vehicles of every kind in town were pressed into service for their removal. The New Republican Ministry. Madrid, July 19, 1873. McMahon refused, on this number 14 were of cholera, 69 of cholera morbus, and 133 were under five years of age. THE GENEVA AWARD. Millions of Exchange Sold—The Balance in Five-Twenties. New Yore, July 19, 1873. In the tiansmiaeion of the Alabama indemnity fund of $16,500,000 to the United States, the English Gov ernment availed itaelf of three American banking houses in London—J. S. Morgan A Co., Morton, Bose A Co., and Jay Cooke, McCullough A Co. The bank ers determined to transmit about one-half through the ordinary channels of exchange, and, accordingly, Morgan A Co. have drawn bills lor about $8,000,000 on London houses, and sold them, that amount being placced to the credit of England on this side. It is not the intention of bankers to transmit any addi tional sum in. this way, but the balance is to be sent over througmhe shipment of five-twenty bonds to the amount of $» ,500,000, a considerable portion of which have already been obtained. This transaction in ex- change w*s managed quietly, at the instance of the CkaaoeUev of the Exchequer, who was afraid of the effect publicity might have on the market. The bonds will be turned into gold at par, making the fqll amount of indemnity. THE PACIFIC COAST. the ground that the case is not within the treaty. It is reported that Don Carlos ordered his forces not to inlertere with communication on the line of the Northern Railway. Telegrams from Barcelona announces that workmen who left the factories have returned to their em ployment. The Captain-General of Barcelona has authorized Citizens to organize for protection against the opera tions of Internationals. Don Carlos Marching on Bilboa. Bayonne, July 19, 1873. i Don Carlos, with ten thousand men, is inarching on ! the city of Bilboa. He has ordered his agents to pur- j chase torpedoes, with which to close the port when New York, Ju’y 19, 1873. There has been great complaint for the past two years by the manufacturers of watches in this country that their trade has been seriously injured, and the reputation of their watches impaired by foreign firms, who Import inferior works with fmc simile of trade marks of our own makers. The facts having been investigated by a special agent of the Treasury Department in this oity, his offi cers to-day made s raid on several suspected parties, and seized over a thousand watches of foreign mark, with American trade-marks engraved upon the works. The forging of American trade-marks upon foreign watches was made a crims by a law of the tast Con gress.
