It is fashionable now in Kentucky for the
biidegroom to borrow money of his father-in-

Many new and pretty styles iu jewelry have
been introduced for the coming lull and win

A new style of note paper, called “ lioyal
Irish Linen,” lias just been introduced, and
doubtless will become fashionable.
That poriod of the fashionable season known
as “tho height,” is drawing near, and by the
25th instant will have been passed once more.
Tho best lio for summer dress is of pale
crape, folded an inch wide at the hack, and
shaped wider at the ends, with insertion and
edging of wide Valenciennes.
Juvenile balls are quite a feature of the
Capo May season. Four kuudred little “tod

Stockton.
Cano fans are one of the latest novelties.
They are of ebony, with knob handles, out of
which springs a small silk fan, edged with
lace aud handsomely decorated.
“Hail storm suits,” is the appropriate term
applied by an accomplished dress maker to
the spotted stuff now so much in vogue for
ladies’ morning toilets.

A young lady suggests, ns a reason for the
lull iu the newspaper hustle trade, that the
weather is entirely too warm, causing the
perspifution to flow so freely that tho protru

Feathers form tho chief and oftentimes
only trimming on the hnts now fashionable
among ladies. Brown, black and purple nro
the popular colors. A graceful curling nod
long, drooping feather over tho crown of tho
hut la very stylish. Somo of the hats aro very
elegant. Tho ladies all know that handsome
feathers, like handsome birds, are very ex
pensive.
I willingly own, says a Saratoga visitor, that
I never saw such a plaeo as this. Every one
is out of doors from morning till night, the
ladies without bonnets, aud the greater part
of tha men with bare heads. Broadway, lrom
the Clarendon to the Union, seems like a vast
drawing-room, where fair women, in gossa-
nior auparel of all hues, are flitting backward
and forward like, rose leaves scattered in the
wind.
