Resolved, That in view of the present disaster, the

ities. Tbe personalisms of the chief Executive and
the impaired standard of political morlity— the re
sult of the scheming of corrupt congressmen—makes
it a msttor ot painful regret that the good and true
men ol all sections should not combine for the res*
toration of our former good and honest government.

mately correct every wrong and restore every right.
Therefore be it
Resolved, That the return of the country to a specie
basis is an object of paramount importance, and that
as the great pnpoee of money, apart from its being
the standard of valuation, is to serve as the medium of
exchange-a means by which transfers are
made and indebtedness discharged. The business
integrity, and even-handed prosperity unite in de
manding a return to the common standard of the
world, and that the banking privileges should be ex
tended to those who can give fit securities for the
prompt redemption of the circulation they utter, in
as good money ss the Government makes tbe lawful
money of the country.
Resolved, That we pledge ourselves to firmly resist
! the probability of the State Government, by special
legislation, being made a pleasant lnstru-
! ment of unworthy private schemes, and
| that wo demand in every department of
public expenditure, rigid economy and good faith,
j and thorough investigation and pnnisbmeat of all of-
1 ficial misconduct.
I The resolutions were unanimously adopted.
I The following was adopted with loud cheers:
i Resolved, That the thanks of all freeman are due to
1 the tribunal which has vindicated the right of local
j *rial by jury, and the freedom of the press against
j the attempt to snatch away the citizan to answer be
fore a foreign court, such attempt as aroused the pro-

Resolved, That this convention of delegates from

citizens cf ali the States upon the judications now
apparant of the growing disposition to oppose any per
version of civil authority, ar.d to d mand in all our
l ublls ways a return to official honesty, economy and

Resolved, That this gratifying tendency of public
sentiment justifies and encourages us to reaffirm the
platform of principles cct forth at Cincinnati more

indicate the sincerity of our confined efforts aim aspi

imperatively demanded and the attainment thereof
can't, with justice and safety, be delayed, and we
deplore the corrupting influenoa of our great cor
poration over the legislative action whereby
onr agricultural interests are crippled,
and development of the resources of the country re
tarded.
