Monroe Advertiser. tiy a resolution of Forsyth Grange, I am instituted lo hand yon a copy of tho resolu tions below for publication) with the re- toest that other papers friendly to the cause will copy. Through our IV. Master, we will bring these resolutions before the State Grange at its meeting iu October next, that some action may bo taken by that body, so ns to more •■trongly draw the attention of Congress lo .hem. If, through our Granges, this great wrong may be righted, they will have accom plished the one great object of their organiza tion. Whereas, about sixty millions of dollars were collected from the cotton planters of tho Sooth, ns a tax on raw cotton, daring the • ears lS€5,’-6C.-'67,-'68, which, for several of these years, took all the profits of the crop, 'oa-ing tho producer poorer than at "the beginning of the year: and thus subordinated the great agricultural interest of the Sonth, "o the merciless exactions of the moneyed cower, from which it _has not been able to -coover; and Y’hsreas, a combination has been formed to proenre the passage of an act of Congress : efunding said tax to the speculators, who paid the tax with the producers’ money, re- lorred for such purpose at the time of sale; and Whereas, The Order of Patrons of Hus bandry was instituted to promote the general interests of tho farmers of the whole country, i y all lawful means, to resist all combinations : Xf h KBL*. cemest maiiked against their rights by corporations or indi- i D f Wt „.
