Among them are two cases [special to herald.] The yellow fever is here, and up to this hour, 5 p. m. , there are some twenty or thirty cases reported. There were four deaths here on Sunday last, one death last night—Mr. W. T. Worne. Mr. Simon Engel, one of our most prominent merchants, died to-day, also a colored man. Tnere are new cases occnrring every hour, and the excitement is intense. The disease has got among the colored popu lation, and will doubtless prove quite fatal. Major Ben. F. Bruton, ex-Senator of this district, is verj low. Dr. Charlton, of Savan nah, 19 here, and he together with local doc tors pronounce the disease, about which there has been some doubts, the yellow fever in all its grades, but all concur in the opinion that it is not yet contagions. The city au thorities are working hard, instituting sanitary measures, and everything is being done that is possible to check the disease. Everybody that can get away is leaving town. Business is on the stand stil*, and the merchants are consideiiog the feasibility of closing altogether. Some cases are getting better, but others are occurring very last. ENGLAND. London, October 24, 1873. At s meeting of the creditors of Clews, Habitch & Co.’s firm, it was stated that there was no doubt of the ability of the firm to pay iu full in a short time. The meeting pessed resolutions of liquidation. A commit tee was then appointed by tbe creditors to take care of their interests. IRELAND. Amnesty for Fenian Prisoners. Dublin, October 24, 1873, Picpriations arc b?ing made for colossal demonstra tions in this city on the 23d of next month in favor of an amnesty for Fenian prisoners. Imrnens excursion parties from various parts of Ireland and even from the United States .are expected. It is believed there will be fully s million people in the city.
