When you steep in Church, do it without disguise, or concealment. A Church is noplace for hypocrisy. Desidc, to sleep at your case on such occasion', shows that your conscience docs not trouble you. 2. Whan you arc speaking earnestly to a man or woman, get your mouth as near as possible to his or her face, and then the person thus spoken to will certainly ful the force of your observa tions. 3. When you are telling a story, keep laugh- ‘ ing yourself; and then, by sympathy, the compa ny will he inclined to join in with you. 4. When you gape in company, Jo it oper and without disguise ; be not so awkward as to cover your mouth with your hand or handker chief. 5. When eating at table, do the business ef fectually; and lot the smacking sound us NO nr legs, keep time with the up-and-down operation o (your teeth t —tins shows that you are methtdi • cal, and in earnest to employ as many of your faculties at the same lime as you can. C. If you have occasion to speak ill of any of your acquaintance, do it hehiml their back ; aitd then you will not hurt their feelings. 7. Always take a few drams in the morning ; it helps the retailers, and makes one feel quite independent; hut in this be eery moderate;— George P. used to say that Siren slings belore breakfast was a small beginning for a good day’s work. 8. When you arc spoken to, look the other ; way—that will bring your car next to the speak er. 9. Never retire to hod at a seasonable hour. It is not genteel; besides, candles cost but little, ami all trades must live. 10. Never rise early in the morning. Mor ning sleep is the best, —besides, it must he a lavj poison who canuut do a day’s work in the after noon, 11. If your husband he confined by indisposi tion, always take that opportunity of going abroad; fur then you can show your solicitude at night, by enquiring how lie has been through the day. 12. If your husband is pleased with your boao* liful head of hair, ho sure to keep it covered with a cap. 13. Keep your parlour and bed room window shut as close as possible; this will keep the raid air out, —and you will have excellent Jhcd air within. 14. “Never spoil a joke for a rotation's sake;" nor suppress the iruili for uni/ hotly s sake; there fin e, ifyoti (loot like your husband as woii as you ought, out teith it, and convince him that you are no respecter of persons, 15. If you have children, indulge thorn iu every thing, and they will the sooner he from j maternal and paternal care. 10. When a fashionable lady makes a morning call, she should do it just at dinner lime; she can then see riff the family at once, mid know what they have for dinner. 17. Melancholy Catastrophe --Von Orange pow der mills of Mr. Rogers, situated near New burgh, N. V. blew up on 15th ult. and destroyed six persons.
