A PROCLAMATION\
WHEREAS J have received
official information from
the fhenjf of the county of Colum
bia, that a certain George Milhrons
confined under a charge of murder,
in the common jail of the fdid coun
ty, fome time fince, hut at what pe
riod 1 am not official y notified,
made his efcape therefrom. And
official information has afo reached
this department from the fhenjf of
the county of Burke that two certain
perfms named David Vjfery and
Clement Martin, confined in the
common jail of the /aid county of
Burke, under a charge of horfe
floating, did on the night of Sunday
the \yth of Augvjl laji make their
efcape therefrom.
I have therefore thought fit to
ijfue this my proclamation offering
a reward of One. Hundred Dol
lars to any per fon or per Jons who
wilt apprehend either of the afore
mentioned culprits , to wit:—George
Milhrons, David Uffery or Clement
Martin, and lodge them or either
of them in fome fecure jail in this
flate.
And Ido hereby charge and re
quire all officers, civil and military,
belonging to ihis flate , to he aiding
and a/filling in apprehending and
fecur ing the faid ievtral offenders [o
that they may be brought to a due
courfe of law , and anfwer to the
refpedive charges alledged againfl
them

report to this department under their
hands and feais of all officers of this
flate. who have taken and fubferihed
the oath to fupport and maintain
the confiiiution thereof, in pur [nance
of the aH of the general afjembly
of the flate, pafjed the r,ih day of
December, 1799, entitled, « an
ad to give further time to the officers
of this flate. to take and (übfenhe
the oath required by the ad, entitled
an ad to compel all officers, civil
and military within this flate, to
lake and fuhfcnbe an oath to fupport
the confiitution thereof, pafjed the
16th day 0/ Feh'uary, 1709."
