Acreage allotments for the
1963 upland cotton and peanut
crops are now being establish
ed for all the eligible farms
in Taylor County, according to
H. A. Sealy, Chairman, Agricul
tural Stabilization and Conser
vation County Committee.
Notices of the allotments will
be mailed to farm operators
in advance of the December 11
referendum on marketing
quotas.
The referendum for cot
ton will be on quotas for the
1963 crop, and the referendum
for peanuts will be on quotas
for the 1963, 1964, and 1965
crop. If two-thirds of the
growers voting in the re
ferendum favor quotas, market
ing quota penalties will apply
to any of the crops planted in
excess of the allotment for the
farm, but the full price sup
port on the crop will be avail
able to farmers planting with
in the allotment for the farm.
If more than one-third of the
growers voting oppose quotas,
no penalty will be applicable to
the crop planted in excess of the
allotment but allotments will be
in effect to determine eligi
bility for price support. If
quotas are not in effect, the
price support rate will be at
the rate of 50 percent of parity.
Location of the polling places
for the December 11 re
ferendum will be announced
later by the ASCS County Office.
