Mathis
Major Clyde “M.C. h Mathis,
76, of Reynolds, GA, died Fri
day, April 10, 2020, at Taylor
County Health & Rehabilita
tion in Butler, GA.
Graveside services were held
Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at 1
p.m., at Free Run Missionary
Baptist Church in Reynolds.
He was bom May 31, 1943, in
Macon County, to James
Mathis, Sr. and Helen Williams
Mathis, He grew up in Macon
County and attended public
schools. On Aug. 23, 1956, he
joined Free Run Missionary
B aptist Church and was a faith
ful member until his health
declined.
He was married to the former
Catherine Jolly of Oglethorpe,
GA, and they had three chil
dren.
For years, he was employed
by Forsling Farms and Circle J
Fertilizer Company in
Reynolds, He gained knowl
edge and skills through his abil
ity to work with his hands. He
left a legacy of farming tech
niques at Forsling Farms.
He was preceded in death by
his wife, his parents, and four
brothers.
He is survived by two daugh
ters, Veronica Lockhart and
Connie D. Mathis i David) Hail;
one son, Willie C. (Jennifer)
Mathis; five grandchildren; four
sisters, Helen Dixon* Inez
Mathis, Elizabeth Mathis (Neil)
Williams, and Gwen Mathis;
four brothers, James Mathis,
Jr., Bennie L, Mathis, Jackson
(Betty) Mathis* and Wilbert
Mathis; companion, Daisy Tay
lor; godson, Tymothy C. Taylor;
friend, Richard Colbert; and a
host of other relatives and
friends.
Hicks & Sons Funeral Home
of Reynolds, GA was in charge
of arrangements.

Wesley Rowe, 65, of Butler,
GA, died Wednesday, April 8,
2020, at Coliseum Health Sys
tem.
Due to restrictions in place
regarding gatherings, a private
graveside service was held Sat
urday, April 11,2020, at 3 p,m.
He w r as a member of Butler
United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by
his parents, Oati s Wesley Rowe*
Sr, and Willa Faye Watson
Rowe,
He is survived by his wife,
Prissy Carpenter Rowe of But
ler; one son, Kevin Rowe of
Macon; one daughter, Ashleigh
Rowe of Butler; two brothers,
David (Jo) Row t c of Macon and
Paul Rowe of Augusta; one
grandson, Chace Rowe of Ma
con; and several nieces and
nephews.

South Georgia Tech Adult Education
Programs Continue Differently
SGTC Adult Education instructors pul together information
packets to send to students who may not have online access.
Where there is a will, there is
a way. That is the philosophy
that the South Georgia Techni
cal College Adult Education
faculty and staff have adopted
during the COVID-19 pan
demic.
“We are encouraging our adult
education students to continue
to move forward even though
our classrooms at South Geor
gia Technical College and the
adult education sites through
out our seven county area are
closed due to the COVID-19 re
strictions put in place by Gov
ernor Brian Kemp,” said South
Georgia Technical College Dean
of Adult Education Lillie Ann
Winn.
The South Georgia Technical
College Adult Education fac
ulty and staff have p ut together
packets of information to share
with their students so they can
continue to progress toward
attaining their goal of earning
a GED or High School Equiva
lency, The packets are being
mailed or emailed to students.
Our instructors are contact
ing their students weekly and
providing feedback on the stu
dents 7 assignments as they arc
received/' exp iai ned Mrs. Winn.

rural students may not have
access to computers or high
speed internet* so we are not
letting that get in the way of us
offering students the ability to
continue their education.' 7

would like to participate, can

During these trying times, with social distancing and
now shelter-in-place, it is nearly impossible to get out
to see everyone in my district. I am following orders by
not visiting during this time.
Please consider this my appeal to you for your vote
and support in the upcoming election. I have served
the 3rd District of the Taylor County Board of Education
for the past four years and would be honored if you al
low me to serve again.
