Traffic Stops In Reynolds
Lead To Marijuana Charges
According to Reynolds Police
Chief Lonnie J. Holder, the
Reynolds Police Department
recently conducted several traf
fic stops that led to Possession
of Marijuana charges.
The Reynolds Police Depart
ment charged Kelvin Deonte
Moore, a 22 year old male of
Phenix City, AL, with Speeding,
78 mph in a 50 mph speed zone,
Possession of Marijuana, Less
Than An Ounce, and Posses
sion of Drug Related Objects,
on Feb. 24th.
On Feb. 20th, Desmond
Varnado, a 88 year old male of
Hampton, GA, was charged
with Failure to Stop at Stop
Sign, Open Container Viola
tion, and Possession of Mari
juana, Less Than An Ounce,
On Feb. 1st, Shynea Williams,
a 34 year old female of Mont
gomery, AL, was charged with
Speeding, Driving Without A
License, and Possession of
Marijuana, Loss Than An
Ounce.
On Jan. 31st, two female ju
veniles were charged with Pos
session of Marijuana, Less
Than An Ounce,
On Feb. 26th, Joshua Aaron
McCarty, a 20 year old male of
Columbus, GA, was charged
with Possession of Marijuana,
Less Than An Ounce. Demetri
Singleton, a 19 year old male
of Columbus and codefendant
of McCarty, was charged wuth
Speeding, 90 mph in a 60 mph
speed zone, and Possession of
a Drug Related Object.
Also on Feb. 26th, Marseille
Antonio Floyd, a 45 year old
ma le of Sanford, FL, was
charged with Speeding, 68 mph
in a 50 mph speed zone. Driv
ing With Suspended License,
and Possession of Marijuana,
Less Than An Ounce.

Vicki Wainwright, City Clerk
of Butler, has been elected to
serve as the Vice President of
the Georgia Municipal Clerks
Association (GMCA) for 2021.
Vice President Wainwright was
sworn in during the Virtual An

New Sign At Julian Knight
City Park Coming Down

Last Monday night, the
Reynolds mayor and city coun
cil met via Zoom for the regu
lar February' meeting.
One item of business was the
newly erected informational
sign, located in front of the Lank
at Julian Knight City Park.
Councilman Walker Moore ad
vised that he has received nu
merous calls about the sign. He
asked. “Who approved it? Who
designed it?"
Public Works Director Scott
Jones answered that the sign
was installed per the City’s bi
cycle committee.
Moore noted that the City’s
muni code requires council ap
proval fear signs. He added, “It’s
an eyesore. This is not the
place for the sign "
Couneilwoman Libby Bond
said, “I don’t think the sign
looks bad, but it’s in the wrong
place." She said it should be
located near City Hall or the
Depot for informational pur
poses.

Taylor County Board Of Assessors
Notification
Notice is hereby given that a member of the appraisal
staff will review and inspect properties which are the
subjects of an active building permit for changes and
improvements which have been made to the property.
Also, site visits and reviews will be made, if determined
needed, in all of Taylor County of residential, agricul
tural, and commercial properties to determine if im
provements have been made or verifications need to be
made in our data.
These appraisal reviews will include measuring struc
tures, listing construction information, and photograph
ing the subject property. The majority of these field
reviews will take place in the coining weeks, from the
hours of 9 a.m, to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Ap
praisal staff will be in a vehicle clearly marked Taylor
County Tax Assessors or GMASS Contractor/Appraiser.

In FBLA Regional Leadership Competition
In the FBLA Regional Leadership Competition, Shekeela Williams placed 1st place in Banking & Financial Systems.
Shekeela demonstrated an understanding of skills in the general operations of the various components of the financial
services sector: She had to utilize her knowledge of the hanking system as being a part of a wider financial system and
how it is exercised as a major influence on the economy of the country. Jazarion Daniely placed 5th in the Job Interview
category. He demonstrated the ability to understand and respond to interview questions. He also had to possess knowl
edge about a particular position and career fields as well as, ask questions to demonstrate his interest in the organization
that was presented to him. The FBLA advisor is Ms, Veronica Hart.
Recreation Park In Reynolds Vandalized
The Reynolds Police Depart
ment apprehended three juve
niles and two adults for vandal
izing the concession stand,
restrooms, and pavilion at the
Reynolds Recreation Park on S,
Liberty Street, resulting in
$4,800 in damages, according
to Chief Lonnie J. Holder.
On Jan. 9th, Officer Christo
pher Gillespie was patrolling S,
Liberty Street, when be ob
served that the men’s and la
dies’ restrooms at the baseball
field had been damaged. He
checked the concession room
and noticed that it had also
been damaged and vandalized
inside. Officer Gillespie also
observed that the doors at the
pavilion had been damaged.
The Reynolds Police Depart
ment launched an investiga
tion and set up cameras around
the recreation park. They col
lected 2,400 screens of footage
over the last 45 days.
After reviewing the camera
footage, Lead Officer Gillespie
identified the three juveniles
and two adults caught on the
cameras,
The juveniles, accompanied
by their parents, were brought
in, and the two adults turned
themselves in. They were in
terviewed and confessed to
criminal damage to govern
ment property.
Juvenile reports were filed.
Due to ongoing investigations,
the two adults may face addi
tional charges.
Chief Holder thanks the citi
zens of Reynolds for reporting
suspicious activities and per
sons. He also thanks the offic
ers for being visible and proac
tive.
