Addey is a 2021 Honor Graduate of Tay lor County High School, where she was Drum Major of the Marching Band and a member of the Literary Team, One Act Play cast, Key Club, Winterguard, Beta Club, the Aca demic Bowl Team, and the Blood Drive Committee. She participated in the Youth Leadership Program, was a bas ketball cheerleader; and was a Gold Card Student She was chosen Most Talented Senior Superlative by her class mates. Addey plans to attend Valdosta State University. She is the daughter of Tim Godrey and Cyndi Melton and is the sister of Shelby Bird, Jason Godfrey, Billy Godfrey, and Michael Godfrey. Her grandparents are Adrians Griggs of Butler and. the late Clay Griggs. The Calendar Girl is a monthly feature of Taylor County High School and The Taylor County News. Calendar Girls are chosen based on academics, extracurricular activities, personality, and char acter. Mr. July Liam Tinley Fausel has been named The Taylor County News Calendar Guy for July. Liam is a 2021 Honor Gradu ate of Taylor County High School, where he was a member of the Viking Tennis Team, Key Club, Beta Club, and was chosen Class Fa vorite Senior Superlative by his classmates* Liam attends Bethel Congregational Methodist Church and is a member of the youth praise band. He plans to attend Georgia Southern University's Pre-Pharmacy Program. Liam is the son of Terry and Suzie Fausel of Butler. He has three brothers, Chris, Chaz, and Aaron. His grandparents are Patsy R. Robinson and the late James E. Robinson of Mobile, AL and Margie S. Fausel and the late Ted Fausel of Griffin, GA. Meets By VALORI MOORE Editor The Butler Garden Club Yard of the Month for July is the landscape of Ameris Bank in Butler. Red knockout roses and crape myrtles are featured. Th is landscape can be viewed at 97 South Broad Street in Butler. The Butler Garden Club Yard of the Month is a monthly feature of and is chosen by, the Butler Garden Club. The Taylor County School District will begin its 2021- 2022 school year on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021. Therefore, the school buses will be out on the roads starting early Monday morning. Please help us protect onr students' well-being and use caution when approaching a school bus. Watch for the yellow flashing lights, which means the bus is preparing to stop. Never pass a bus that has red flashing lights, stop signs, and stop arm out. Al ways watch for kids crossing streets while preparing to load onto the bus. We are excited about the upcom ing school year! The Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Program announces that Geor gia schools may participate in the Seamless Summer Option for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs in school year 2022, A school dis trict or a single school may of fer meals at no charge to all students. Reynolds Council Butler Garden Club Yard Of The Month And Lunch To Students Taylor County Schools To Offer Free Breakfast The Reynolds City Council met Monday, July 19th, for the regular monthly meeting. Lt. Vernon Humphrey pro vided the Chief's report, while Police Chief Lonnie Holder was at Chief's Training. Lt. Humphrey advised that the police department had 1,224 citizen contacts in June, and 129 citations were issued. In traffic enforcement, there were 82 speeding citations, nine pos session of marijuana charges, two DU Is, one failure to main tain lane, and five child re straint citations. Previously, the City installed a ramp in front of the Montessori school, to aid in ac cessing the building when the curb flooded during heavy rains. The ramp dams the wa ter, causing further problems, and the school asked for a bridge, or something for the water to flow under. Councilman Chris Mason stated, “If we build it, we own it and assume all liability.” Mayor Butch Turner said re moving the ramp would be bet ter than the way it is currently. Public Works Director Scott Jones noted that removal would not be easy. The City will look into the cost of enlarging the drain pipes underneath the ramp, to open it up for water flow. The fire department’s ISO (In surance Services Office) audit is complete. The rating is ex pected to be announced by the end of the year.
