I have been fishing all my life, and I have never yet fallen into the water.” Mr. Warner grew warmer but he acknowledged the truth. At the Club House he was thawed out and his clothes hung out to dry, while clad in an overcoat he cooked supper. After supper, Mr. Parker and Mr. Golden went back to the river, aveng ing Nemesis following close behind. The water had fallen several inches during the past week and exposed roots of trees on the edge of the lake covered with mud and slick as ice. Mr. Parker was standing on some of these roots, pulling the boat toward him when h's foot slipped and he went in, where the water is about fifteen feet deep. There was much churning of water and scurrying of frightened cat-fish before the second victim could get back to terra firma with a bruised knee. Then there was another hur rying to the Club House and a quick change of clothing. But three records were broken: That of rapid conversion and quick baptism; the catch of suckers from Ferry Lake, and Mr. Parker’s record of never falling into the water.
