Peggy Mallard Chandler
Margaret Williams Gould
Savalas Latravius Davis, Jr.
Peggy Mallard Chandler passed quietly in her sleep on
August 28, 2023 after several years of declining health. She
is survived by her daughter Lynn Hurley (Tim); sons Billy Joe
Chandler (Lisa), and Robert L. (Lucky) Chandler; grand-chil
dren Erin Shepard (Austin), Megan Love (Philip) and Wade
Chandler (Mary Ann); six great-grandchildren and numerous
nieces and nephews as well as Carol Cooper and Dianne
Chandler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl
S. Mallard and Robert L. Mallard, Sr.; two sisters, Dorothy
Fowler and Lillian Hester, three brothers, Joseph G. Mallard,
Robert L. Mallard, Jr. and Grady Mallard; her husband Billy
E. Chandler and her daughter P. Jan Chandler.
Peggy was bom and reared in Sardis and graduated from
SGA High School prior to her marriage Billy. They lived in
Sardis until 1961 when the family moved to Thomson, GA.
Peggy was a devoted wife and dedicated mother who worked
tirelessly for her family while serving as a long-time employee
of Thomson Company from which she retired. After retire
ment, she moved to Augusta for several years before moving
to Gainesville in 2014. Her focus was always her family and
she never missed an opportunity to show her children, grand
children and great grandchildren how much she loved them.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August
31 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Sirmons of
ficiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at St. Marks Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers for those who wish to honor Peggy, the
American Kidney Fund is suggested as a charity for consid
eration.

at her residence.

Deborah “Debbie” Oliver McDonald
Deborah “Debbie” Oliver MacDonald, age 72, entered into
eternal rest surrounded by her family on August 24, 2023.
Debbie was a graduate of Appling
County High School and Georgia
Southern College earning a Bach
elor’s, Master’s, and Education
Specialist Degree. Debbie was
born in Waynesboro, GA and
spent her adult life there serving
as a teacher at Waynesboro Pri
mary School the majority of her
career. She was also a professor
at Paine College and Augusta
Technical College.
Debbie was a beloved wife,
daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cous
in , and friend, but her biggest joy in life was being a Mother and
Nana to her “girl gang” of 2 daughters, and 4 granddaughters.
She was a member of Green’s Cut Methodist Church, an avid
tennis player, and loved spending time at her happy place - the
beach. Debbie leaves a legacy of her deep love and devotion
to her family with large family gatherings hosted at her home
each holiday. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister
and mother - Julie Oliver Pickle and Betty Hayes Oliver, and
in-laws William J. and Geneva Hollingsworth MacDonald.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John R. MacDon
ald; daughters Jamie Mallard (Brantley) of Waynesboro and
Jill Davis (Clint) of Mooresville,NC; granddaughters Aubrey
Mallard, Brylie Mallard, Tinsley Davis, and Emeryn Davis;
her adored father Rev. Tom Oliver of Waynesboro; brother
Rick Oliver (Connie) of Way cross; brother-in-law Fyn Pickle
(Sonya) of Adel, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles,
and cousins.
The family received friends at DeFoach-McKerley-Prescott
funeral home in Waynesboro, GA for visitation Saturday, Au
gust 26 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. The funeral celebrating her life
was held at Waynesboro First Methodist Church on Sunday,
August 27 at 2:00 p.m. with graveside immediately following
at Magnolia Cemetery with Rev. Keith Cox, Rev. Jerry Sharpe,
and her father, Rev. Tom Oliver, officiating.
Pallbearers were her cousins and nephews Woody Hayes,
Alan Williams, Cliff Oliver, Ross Pickle, Adam Crews, and
Jake Robinson.
