The Annual Downtown Development Au
thority Christmas Parade will be on Saturday,
December 9th, at 1 p.m. The theme of this
year’s parade will be “A Rodeo Christmas”.
The parade begins at the Exchange Club Fair
grounds and travels north along Liberty Street
to the Southern Bank pavilion at 9th Street
and Liberty Street. DDA Director Don Lively
expects a large turnout for the event.
“In past years, whenever we’ve had a “west
ern” theme, folks really get into dressing the
part for the parade and into decorating floats
and vehicles according. Everybody has cow
boy hats and boots,” said Lively.
The DDA encourages local schools, busi
nesses, civic groups, churches and individuals
to enter floats, decorated vehicles or marching
groups in the parade. Past parades have in
cluded all of those in addition to horses, golf
carts, tractors and classic cars. And of course,
Santa Claus will be there.
This year’s parade also falls on Second
Saturday when many downtown shops and
restaurants are open with sales and specials,
so it’s a dual event this year.
Applications and rules for the parade can be
received by emailing dlively@waynesboroga.
com, donlively.dda@gmail.com, or by calling
706-554-8018.
