It will lie apparent to any owe, who] will examine a Solid Gold Watch, that aside from the necessary thickness for engraving and polishing a large propor tion of the precious metal used, is nee- Icd only to stiffen and hold the engrav ed portions in place, and supply the necessary solidity and strength. The surplus gold is actually needless so far utility and beauty arc concerned. In Jam ns Biss’ 1’atknt Goi.d Watch Casks, this waste of precious metal is overcome, and the same solidity and strength produced at from one-third to one-half of the usual cost of solid cases. This process is of the most simple na ture, ns follows: A plate of nickle composition metal, cspeuially adapted 0 the purpose, has two plates of solid ?old soldered on each side. The three are then passed between polished steel rollers, and the result is a strip of heavy plated composition, from which the cases, backs, centres, bezels, &c., are cut and shaped by suitable dies aad for mers. The gold in these cases is suf ficiently thick to admit of all kinds of chasing, engraving and enameling - t the engraved cases have liccn carried until worn perfectly smooth by time and use without removing the gold. This is the only case made with two plates of Solid Gold and wurimnted by special certificate For sale by all Jewelers, Ask for il lustrated Catalogue, and to see warrant. july 13, ’80—ly All kinds of Canned goods at Z.
