On Wednesday evening of last week,
in Vienna, some trouble, originating
from a trifling matter, arose between
Cobb Melton, a young white man, and
JamesFord, an Irishman. Ford was con
siderably nnder the influence of liquor,
and,we have been told, used violent and
bausive language toward Melton, who
quietly warned Ford to go away.
Ford was taken away, £ut afterward re
turned an,d with his knife attacked Mel
ton. The men came to close quarters,
and Melton fired two or three times on
the Irishman, hitting him with two
balls. Both men fell together, Melton
on top; They y^re pulled apart, and
it was discovered that Ford was mor
tally .wounded. He died within about
an hoar afterward,
Jurors . were summoned, and an in
quest was held by coroner Thomas A.
Ammons. The verdict was “justifiable
ljomicide,” and a gentleman from Vien
na informs ns that the genernjl opinion
of the citizens is that the verdict
is right and that Melton was jus
tified in shooting Ford. -
Helton was engaged to be married
this week to a young lady of Vienna.
.The unfortnnale affair is very much
regretted by the people of Vienna.—

A CABBOLINE ROMANCE.
1 My worthy friend and neighbor,
Whence comes that smile serene ?”
“ O, I am now thrice happy—
I’ve found it—Cahboline.
■ It’s just what Fve Jbeen hiking for,
Since I’ve been seventeen-^-'
And getting balder eveiy day
Till I got Cabbolikb.
“ It’s growing in right rapidly,
My head can now be seen
Like other heads, in silken locks, ■
Thanks to my Carboline.
“ I know a pretty, blackHeyed maid,
A royal little queen,'
Who’ll be as muc-h rejoiced as J
To see this Cabbolixe.
“She'll throw away her switches,
False curls; and borrowed sheen,
And shake qpon her shoulders plump,
The wealth of Cabbolixe.
“ And when our heads are covered o’er,
As once they were, I weep) >' J .
We’ll noise abroad the praises
Of wondrous Cabbolixe.
“ While kneeling at the altar.
With’ Father Good between,
We’ll caU'the v^orld to witness -
A match from'&ABBOLiNE.
“ And in the happy aftertime,
When comes a eh'angC-of scene,
With ajittle dear our hearts to cheer,
We'Kcallit Cabbolixe.”

Satyra.
The Satyra were' part of Jbe retinue of .
King Bacchus." They were supposed lo be
bald, with Short sprouting horns, like those
of kids, And goat-footed.' They were of a
lively, frolicsome disposition, but not verj-
wise, else they would have cured their
baldness by using Carboline, the perfection
of the chemist’s art, prepared from natural
crude petroleum, thoroughly deodorized,
and nicely perfumed- Eveiy man, woman
and child should use it as stressing, ft
