Next Friday night, February 21st, there will be an oyster sup per at Hattie school house. The proceeds of the supper will be used to purchase a library for the school. The purpose is em phatically commendable, and should have the cordial endorse ment of all friends of the school. We are requested to cordially invite everybody to attend the supper, and guarantee excellent entertainment. The school is progressing nicely with Prof. W. 0. Monk as princi pal, and Miss Alice Barfield, as sistant. The names of 68 pupils are on the roll, and the attendance far above the average. Hodge, Jr. of Hen derson, passed through the city Sunday going to Dooly. What’s the attraction now,Jack? Rev. J. E. Powell filled his reg ular appointment at the Baptist church Sunday. The congrega tion was good in the morning, but on account of the diagreeable weather it was not as large in the evening. Both sermons were in teresting. We are glad to know that Mr. R. E. Jackson, who has been con fined to his bed for several days with pneumonia, is improving. Mrs. Stonewall Ellis of Grovan ia spent Sunday iq our city. Mrs. C. E. Uubanks returned home last Friday, after a weeks’ visit to home folks in Locust- Grove. Mr. Jay Houser visited relatives in Macon Saturday and Sunday. Mr. J. H. Grace went to Mil- ledgeville last week to see Miss Maribel Grace, who was quite sick. Miss Maribel is attending ing college there, and we are glad to - note she is much better. Messrs. J. L. Eubanks and B.C, Kendrick of Henderson were in our city last week on business. Feby. 17th, 1902', * —The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Todd died last Thurs day at their home about four miles north of' Perry. Though the babe knew only a few hours of life on earth, the sorrow of the loving parents is none the less keen, and their friends sincerely sympathise with them in their be reavement, They should remem ber with comfort that Divine dec laration : “Of such is the kingdom of Heaven.” U M.
