Our motto is “Prog ress, ’ and we practice what we preach. She Sunday School wilf have a Christmas tree at the school-room here on the night of Deo. 24th. We invite everybody to come out and help ns make this the most successful tree we -have ever had. The different committees have been appointed and we feel sure they will do their duty. Santa Claus says he will be with us. We also ask each person to bring a “pound/’ and after the presents are delivered- every-thing possible will be done t6 make the evening pleasant. Ac au ap propriate hour refreshments will be served. So don’t forget the time and date. This is a splendid location for one wishing • to take boarders, as more than can be accomodated, the demand for board is much. The report is circulated that we will lose our assistant teacher. Our loss is “some one’s” gain. This is the second bride who was once our assistant teacher, we will lose this year. So girls, if you want to get married just get the assistant’s place in our school, as well as the P. M. at Byron. Our school is progressing nicely with Prof. Kilpatrick as Princi pal. The enrollment has been above the average. Mrs. W. T. Simmons of Dub lin has returned home after spend ing several days with Mr. and Mrs, W. W. Simmons. Mrs' J. G. Dorsett and chil dren of Macon visited her mother last week, Mj'b. D. H. Holleman. There will be a “pound” par ty at the school room here Fri day night of this week, Dec. 18. Everybody invited and a good time in store for all. One of the many features of the evening will be a “Magic Lanturn” show. An admission fee of five cents will* be chargedYfor all wishing to see it. The white euat of Jack FroBt was seen everywhere last Friday, and we are now having some real cold : weather. Our first snow seen this year, fell’last Thursday, Thanksgiving day. Th6 pretty flakes fell only about ten minutes. 1 Misses Estelle and Ava Haley were the guests of Miss , Lillie Skipper Saturday. 1 Mrs. A. J. Skipper and- daugh ter spent last Friday with Mrs. W. S. Ellis. Miss Julii Rentz of near Gro- vania .comes over to Hayneville thrice weekly, to £ive Maggie and Lida Ellis musio lessons. Our boys and girls are increas ing rapidly in* number.
