the use of the school and com

METHODISTS TO HOLD
MEETING AT CORDELE
The friends of unification be"
tween the Northern and Southern
branches of Methodism will meet
at Oordele Methodist church Sun
day afternoon, at three o'clock,
February 16th, and every church
in the Oordele district is expected
to be represented by voluntary
attendance. Brother, sister, old,
young, married, or groaning so to
be, You Are Invited To Be
Present. I know, because I am
right now inviting you. Splendid
speakers will be there to discuss
the issues contained in the plan of
unification now pending ratification
the conferences. You will be
expected to vote upon the ques
tion at your church; so come to
the meeting at Oordele and get
your bearings before deciding your

NEGRO KILLED NEAR PERRY '
Charlie Wimberly shot and
killed another negro named David
Marshall at a mullet supper row
on the National Fruit Farm early
Sunday morning. Both negros had
been drinking. Wimberly claims
that the other negro was abusing
his wife.
The Coronojs jury returned a
verdict'of murder.
The Wimberly negro was placed
onder arrest by Sheriff Pierce and
Deputy Murray within an hour
aftur tbe shooting, and lodged it
jail at Perry,

PREPARING FOR BIGGEST PEACH
BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
With the arrival of Miss Pauline
Oak of Maiiie, who will direct tbe
pageant of the Fourth Annual
Peach Blossom Festival which is
to be held in Fort Valley in March
of the 19 and 20, all of Fort Valley
and Peaoh County will begin soon
the rehearsals for the pageant.
Miss Oak who has directed the
pageants for three previous Festi
vals, and with the co-operation
Col. C. L. Shepard as General
Chairman the Festival of this year
will far surpass any other.
After an Bxcutive meeting of
Col. C. L. Shepard and Miss Pau
line Oak and various newspaper
representatives, it was decided up
on to elect the King and Queen by
a popular vote of the Citizens of
peach County. This election will
be held Thursday night.
Only High school pupils of the
last years of high school, and older
citizens are eligible to participate.
The elected King and Queen will
then in turn name their court,
which will consist of 50 people. X

An election for Alderman of the
City of Ferry, to fill the unexpir
ed term of the late A.M. Ander
son was held her* Thursday.
John L. Hodges was elected
without opposition. The vote cast
was light.

DIES AS RESULT OF AUTO
ACCIDENT
An automobile accident oa De
cember ^7 cost the lif* of Ernest
F. Sullivan, of W'ellston. He died
at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at
the Middle Georgia Sanatorium.
Mr. Sullivan was driving au
automobile that was in a be;id-on
cr?sh with another car at Ceuter
ville on the date named. He
sustained a fractured skull and
was brought to the Middle Geor
gia Sanatorium, where at inter
vals he had been conscious.
He was a sou of Mr. and Mrs.
F. S. Sullivan, prominent planters
of Wellston, and was born aud
reared iu Houston County. Besides
his parents he is survived by two
brothers, J. E. and L. L. Sullivan,
and three sisters, Mrs. W, L.
Hutto, of Byron; Mrs. J. E. Wil
son, of Walden,- and Miss Ada
Sullivan, of Wellston.
The funeral took place at 3
o'clock Monday afternoon, near
Elberton, i<ev. E. M. (j'lapp of
ficiating. interment was in the
family cemetery.

1 h) Perry High School basket
ball teams, boys and girls, con
tinued their victories Friday night
by defeating Cochran High on
Fort Valley's indoor court. Boys
29 to 26. girls 15 to 11. Both
games were fast and furiously
fought, but cleanly played.
ThesQores were close through
aut.both games, with Cochran lead
fug in the first half. But that
spirit of determination to win
which has characterized both
teams this soason forced the
local teams ahead in the last half.
Wordna Gray was high pointer for
P. H. S. getting 13 points, Alfred
Edwards next with 7. Hilt Gray
followed with. Cook for Cochran
was high man with 13 points.
This is the second meeting of
these teams this season, Cochran
boys won from Perry in Cochran
earlier in season by two points,
while P. H. S. Girls won from
Cochran by one point. The boys
will probably play tie off some
time later. P. H. S's. second team
defeated Fort Valley's second
team Friday afternoon by 28 to
16 score.
P. H. 8 boys will play Eastman
High in Perry Friday, February
13, and Hawkinsville February 20
in Hawkinsville. The Eastman
game may be played in Fort Valley
Friday night, but definite an
nouncements will be made later.
