The contribution included more than $28,194 in cash and pledges from the employees and a $5, 700 corporate gift from the P&G fund. Employee giving at the plant in creased by 45 percent over last year's campaign. Library to offer programs for children By BECKY YEATMAN Special to the Home Journal Preschoolers’ Slorytime begins promptly at 10 a.m. every Tuesday and Wednesday . This program is for children between the ages of three and five years old. Parents arc encouraged to attend with their children until they arc secure in the group. The focus of the program is on picture story books but the half hour session also inlcudcs songs, fingerplays or other elements such as puppets, films, games or videos. No registration is required. The whole family suffered really. I think what bothered me most was the fact that 1 had little time to really gel to know the patients as real people." Feeling a change was in order, Ferry quickly shifted her emphasis to nursing homes. She has been with The New Perry Nursing Home since 1983. "It's a great place to work. The staff and management arc wonder ful. When I first came to New Perry, they made me really feel a part of everything. The manage ment here is especially helpful. They really care about the patients as individuals. They spare no ex pense in providing for patient com fort. It makes the job easier to know that you have their support", said Ferry. When walking through the facil ity, one is immediately struck by evidence of a special caring atmo sphere. Able patients sit leisurely in the dining area, conversing with one another. They arc not dressed in robes as one might expect, but in casual attire. The ladies' hair is styled as though by beauticians. The men arc clean shaven and orderly in appearance. According to Ferry, evidence of administration backing comes in specialist who prepares and prcsnls the storytimes, is also available on those days to help parents. Parcnt/Toddlcr Storytime is offered on Wednesdays at 10:40 a.m. starling January 9 and continuing through Feb. 21. This program is for children between 18 and 36 months old. A parent must participate and guide the child through the 20 minute session. This program introduces children to library group activities in which the focus is on developing listening skills in a small group crcti agrees this is the best way to reward those who stay as well as being the best way to slop the dropout rale to the private sector. Aftcrschool Storytimes for children from kindergarten age through the third grade will he held on Wednesdays at 3:45 p.m. starling January 9 and running through February 21. The program will consist of read aloud picture books, books on filmstrip and video and occasional games or other participation activities.
