Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Blount Road home of 75-year- old June Eaves after six men, including Supercross owners Clifford J. Bunzendahl and Steven Harper, showed up around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 and threatened to sue her. Eaves’ home is next to the Supercross. Harper said they were upset about Eaves’ comments in last week’s Reporter opposing the track’s request to stay open until midnight, rather than the usual 10 p.m., on three Fridays this spring. She and two other area residents objected to the request at a March 18 county commission meeting. (Photo/Gina Herring) a The next four years are going to be ivotal in the growth of Monroe County and I want to be here to assist. - Commission chair Harold Carlisle Carlisle seeking another term County commission chairman Harold Carlisle has announced his intention to run for re-election. He is finishing his first four-year term as chairman. Qualifying for most political offices is April 28-May 2. Carlisle praised the board for its accomplishments over the last four years. He acknowledged that some times tempers fly during meetings but said it has always been his poli cy to allow each commissioner or citizen to have their say on any subject coming before the board. “The next four years are going to be pivotal in the growth of Monroe County and I want to be here to assist in any way I can, using my experience and schooling to continue the steady, controlled progress we are cur rently undergoing,” said Carlisle. Goddard will speak to the Monroe County Republican Party at 6 p.m. on are GODDARD Tuesday, April 8 at This Little Piggy BBQ on Indian Springs Drive. Goddard is a retired U.S. Air Force major gen eral and currently serves as vice president and chief technology officer at Mercer University. He is a decorated Vietnam veteran and from 1997- 2000 was commander of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center. The pub lic is invited to hear Goddard speak and ask questions. Deputies find $48,000 cash Monroe County sheriff’s deputies confiscated $48,000 cash and traces of marijuana from a vehicle carrying two 1-75 travel ers Wednesday, March 19, one of whom had just been released from jail. Sheriff’s deputy C. Beck spotted a north-bound maroon Pontiac Grand Am with too dark a window tint and initiated a traffic stop on 1-75 at around 9:46 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19.
