been paralysed daring the past week
on account of the shortsge of care on
both Ihe Southern and L. A N. roads.
Local operators have been notIRed of
the closing down of hundreds ot email
industries In the Southeastern states
on Recount of lack of coal, but they
are powerless to help until the coal
cars are supplied. Both roads promise
a partial supply for Monday.' but-there
Is little prospect of any permanent re
lief. Not only Is the supply of steam

hie hands. Waltsr Parker, recently of
Atlanta, whose home Is In Gadeden,
-Ala., snatched a rovolver from hti
roommate's trunk at a hotel here’last
night and suicided by shooting himself
through the head. He acted like a mad
map, tossing from side to side on the
hod and when he matched the revolver
his two roommates fled frum the room
nfter the suicide had flred n shot at
them.
Parser was a bertender and had been
despondent for many days.

Many passages of Scripture are
quoted by Mrs. Nation to show that her
mission Is a fulfillment of prophecies
made In the Bible. She points out that
her Initials spell "can” and she rays
she can do things and will do them. She
also points out that she will yet carry
a notion for the cause of Christ.
An Annihilationist.
-*T am no temperance woman. Neither
am I a local optlonlat." she said. "I
am an unnlhllatlonlst. I want It wiped
out and a law made so that liquor
cannot be made, sold, bartered, or
given ntvay.
"And I am carrying Ibis gospel
everywhere. Jesus went to hell and
preached there. Why should 1 not go

one of the men coming out of the
president's office asked one of Ihe em-
ployees to please Induce me to leave

Allhough having made lots of money
selling her souvenir hatchets and cop
les of her monthly publication "The
Hatchet,” Mrf. Natfon declares It Is the
wish of her life that after she dies, the
papers will ray that Carrie Nation was
burled by charity. She eold her home
for 1800 and gave this money to found
her “Homs for Drunkards' wives," In
Kansas City, Kans. Since that time ah*
has given the home over to the Asso
ciated Charities of Kansas City, and
with It f7,100 she has mode. The home
Is dally sheltering woman made mis-
etable through drunken husbands.
From Atlanta Mr*. Nation will return
to Guthrie and front there aha trill go
to Washington. D. C„ where she will
devote her time to the publication ot
her monthly. The Hatchet.

A gospel automobile Is another feat-
ure that Mrs. Nation will add to her
work In Washington. She has an auto
mobile that will hold ten or twelve peo
ple and with this she will go out of
Washington to the country and hold
services. .
People may not agree with Mra. Ms.
tlon In her methods to accomplish what
aha seeks, but no one after talking with
her ran doubt her sincerity In Ihe
belief that her mission Is one divinely
given her.
And she has done good, too, with all
her smashing. These. Incidentally, have
caused her lo be arreeted and Jailed
twenty-nine times and some of there
sentences were of long duration.
