went to a boarding house at 47 Hast
Mitchell street, and swallowed an over-
doe* of laudanum. He was later taken
to the Orady hospital, where It was
announced on Tuesday that he was
out of danger.
Mrs. Briggs, who Is slaying at the
home of a friend, Informed her hua-
band, It la staled, that she would go
back to htm If he would give up whisky
and beer and treat her right. To this
Briggs la said to have replied: .
“1 will never quit drinking whisky
and beer as long as It la manufac
tured."
Briggs and hla wife formerly boarded
at the Mitchell street house and Briggs
Immediately went there after hla con-
ferenen with Mrs. Briggs. He con
versed with the landlady for several
minutes, after which she was called .u
the front door. During her absencu
from the room llrlggs swallowed the
poison dose and fell over across a bed.
On the return of the landlady the
would-be suicide Informed her of whirl
he had don*. The hospital was then
notined and Briggs hurried to that In
stitution In an ambulance.

F. Gilbert, a retired Jeweler, committed

He was a captain In the Confederate

of Emory College gathered at the Pied
mont hotel Monde)* night, the occasion
being the aenjor banquet, an annual

entertained with addresses and re
sponses to toasts. An elaborate menu
was served.

The remainder of the Dennett Jewels,
alleged to have been stolen by Royal
Leaier Dllger. and which were re

The Jewels were turned over to Mrs.

however. They are the Ancient Order
