Th* next morning Hon. Joe Denham,

this reason I skipped Kllavtll* and went

a good sprinkling of negroes. Mayor

At Mason Banday.
Sunday afternoon I spoke to seven
or sight hundred negroes In the Wash
ington Avenue Presbyterian meeting
house In Macon. Th* house was pack-
ed. I made about th* same speech to
the negroes that I have been making
to th* white people, except that 1 said
some things specially appropriate to
that occasion.
I analysed, partially, th* race prob
lem. giving only four elements, hut
told them there were several others.
The first element I discussed was the
Intense hale between the race* and
yst the whit* man and th* negro both
claimed to be Christians. I told them
further than these two conditions were
Imposalbl* to exist at th* sain* lima
In the Ilf* of any man. That men
could not be Christiana and hste each
other with a hatred bom of the devil.
I next dwelt as haavlly as l knew how
upon cHmlnal aesaulte.
I then dleeusesd th* political condi
tions that separated the races tnd mail*
them etrangely and violently antago
nistic. 1 read to Ihtm from my Boston

groes of Meriwether county had de
feated Warner Hilt for th* taglstatur*.
after he had Introduced and preeaed *■>
aucceeaful enactment th* very best law
In the United Slates, against lynch
ing* and mob violence.
My fourth point was th* conditions
of tabor In th* state that had com
pelled th* pro pi* to abandon all hope
of thslr service and sack for Germans
and Swedes and olhtn to supply the
places of ths negro** In th* horn**, on
