The ullver Company, of Knoxville,

street viaduct, has petitioned the mayor
and council for an extension of time
for the completion of the contract.

tract with the city that. In the event
the viaduct was not completed by De
cember I. the Oliver Company should
pay 160 a day far each day thereafter,
with more than 70 days at 130 a day-
now to be paid for. the sum Is growing
to startling proportions.
The.contractor* give reasons why the
work Was delayed. Mayor Joyner has
already given notice that he will not
consent to the payment of more money
to the, contractors unless council so
authorises btmeto do.
