According to city detectives, Walter Graham, the young man held prisoner In the Tower on the charge of murder Ing George Richardson on the night of December 22, 1806, made a daring es cape from revenue officers In Gwinnett county, about four years ago, by swkn- mlng across a river after having been cornered by th* •■revenue*.'’ ! The startled officers were foiled by this unexpected and daring move and before they could hit on a plan of pursuit the fugitive swim mer had reached the opposite bank and disappeared.
