Augusta, Oi., Feb. 10—Charles Hor
ton Hookey. a popular young lad of
this city, died at the city hospital laat
night at 0 o’clock aa the result of In
juries caused by the accidental dis
charge of a ahoigun which was being
banded him by his hunting companion.

Tosterday afternoon the two boys
wont for a hunt. Young Hookey sided
a bird and asked hla comrade for the
gun. As It was being given him-It was
discharged, the contents entering the
lad's right side and breast.
A negro volunteered to go to the
' nearest telephone, two miles distant,
and acquaint people In the city with
what had happened. The boy was
brought to the city In a wagon and
was carried directly to the hospital. He
recovered consciousness and fully ex
onerated his chum from any blame and
fully explained the circumstances of
the accidental shooting. A few minutes
after he had bade his parents an af
fectionate and pathetic farewell he
paaaed away.
