the eommerclai exchange of'the t'ham-
ber of Commerce, and the .doelng of
the wire houses that have been
running since the Boykin law went

The Chamber of Commerce exchange
opened formally at noon. One of the
wires started ticking at 6 o'clock, and
.when the exchange was declared offi
cially opened there was a long list of

Walter O. Cooper, secretary of the
Chamber of Comiperce and manager of
the exchange, has succeeded In securing

After being III with smallpox for
several days and not knowing It, A.
N. Sharpe, secretary to the Presbyts-
rlan home mission board. Is now In tha
hospital for sufferers from that dis
ease.
For several days Mr. Sharpe waa
feeling III. and then when other symp
toms appeared he consulted his family
physician, Dr. C. F. Benson, and learn
ed for the drat time that he had small-
B >x. Dr. Benton sent Mr. Sharpe to
r. J. P. Kennedy, city health officer,
and he waa then taken to the smallpox
hoapitai. Hla residence at t'openhlll
was thoroughly fumigated and the oth
er members of the family vaccinated.
Mr. Sharpe only has a mild case, and
the health officials think two other
members uf the family may hava'tba
disease later In a mild form.
SiL far this winter there have only
beeifislx cases of smallpox In Atlanta,
and all of these have been since Christ
mas. owing lo the.fact that Mr.
Sharpe was III several days before he
knew his disease, the health officers
think that possibly two or three cases
may result.
John M. Smith.
John 31. Smith, aged 67 years, died
Wednesday morning at his residence,
383 Central avenue. He Is survived by
his wife, three sons, two daughters, twe
brothers and two sisters. The funerai
services will be conducted Thursday
morning at 11:30 o'clock at tha resi
dence. The body will be sent lo Mc
Donough. Os., for Interment.

pany. of Savannah. Judga Cann grant
ed a temporary restraining order
against the commission.
