the Blind will be opened by the true-

which Councilman Charles M. Roberts
la chairman, went agnln Into secret
session Thursday afternoon to .act on
the applications.
About half of the time of the com
mittee when In open session was taken
up In an Informal dlacusaton of The
Georgian, and especially the article In
which The Georgian dleclosed every
thing that wax done at the previous se
ret ersolon of the committee.
Some of the members of the commlt-

account nf the last secret session, and
asked Alderman Curtis, who happened
to be present, what he thought of It.

Gaffney. B. C„ March 1.—Judge Al
drich yesterday , afternoon sentenced
Tom If arris, alios Tom Childress, of
North Carolina, to htng March 3$ for
tho murder of Mrs. Morgan at this
place several months ago. The jury
was out less than an hour and returned
a verdict without recommendation In
less than an hour.
Harris was -tried for cutting the
woman's throat and robbing her .f
$500. After his afreet he narrowly
escaped being lynched by the angry
cltlsens and was taken to Spartanburg
for safe-keeping. While confined In
the county jail he made a confession to
Deputy Bhertff White, Jailor Becknell
and Rev. W. P. Smith. The confes
sion was taken down - In writing and
offered In evidence by the state.
