Those who wit nessed the assault were certain he meant every word he said, for he bran dished a blackjack about him as he uttered the threut. Threatens to Kill. The attack came as the finale of an attempt on the part -of-Chlef- Wilkie and Captaiti Porter to throw all news paper men off the scent, and they were so chagrined when caught at their own gume that they announced In the fu ture they would refuse to give the pub lic the benefit of their Information.
