He failed to respond and Abraham Hum mel waa recalled. He waa questioned by the district at torney and stated thkt on October 17, 1101, Evelyn Neshlt came to hla office and he bad a talk with her. Q. Did you dictate something to stenographer after that conversation? Delmaa objected, but Jerome argued that the wltnese shnuld.be allowed to answer "yet" or “no." Smith Is Recalled. James Clinch Bmlth arrived before the argument was finished, and ao Hummel waa asked jn step aside until White's brother-in-law waa examined. Mr. Bmlth brought with him a copy of the cablegram which had been tent to him by the district attorney, while hs was in Paris, asking him to return to testify. He was questioned by Mr. Delmaa.
