Mrs. James Henry Parker, president of the chapter, has many friends In this sec tion of the Bouth, And the membership Includes the names of many prominent Southern women now living In New York, who have a wide acquaintance ship In Atlanta. The entertainment of tho New York chapter. United Daughters of the Con federacy, took place at Hotel Astor. The committee In charge of the re ception Included, besides Mrs. Parker, Mesdames Paulino DuBose, first vice president;* R. W. Jones, second vice president; Leroy Broun, registrar; W. H. Klein, recording secretary; C. Myles CQlller, historian, and T. Avery Lamb, treasurer. The large boll room, where the ceptlon was given, was decorated with Confederate and* American flaffk. also red and white flowers, emblematic of the colors chosen by the society. In addition to nearly all of the six hundred and fifty members of the chap ter, there were present many visitors prominently connected with the South ern colony there. Those specially Invited Included Ad miral and Mrs. Joseph Ooghlan, Gen eral and Mrs. Frederick Grant, Mesdames Donald McLean and Robert McKee. Music was furnished by mem bers of the Twelfth regiment band and vocal solos by three young women. The success of tho entertainment was de servedly attributed largely to the ef forts of Mrs. Clara Kyle Crank, chair man of that committee.
