Raleigh. N. C., March II.—It Is
thought very probable that work will
be started some time this eprtng re
ducing the grades of the Seaboard Air
Line between Raleigh. N. C.. and Nor-
lina. th* distance between the two
point* being something over UO mile*.
At the pre«ent time many of the grade*
are a* great aa 1 1-4 per cent, and the
Idea Is to reduce them to '1-10 of I
per cent, which would double the ca
pacity of the engines. Between twenty
and thirty bridges are to be built ami
all wlllvbc fore double track and all
of the grade change* will be with a
view to double tracking. It le esti
mated that the wotk will cost about
IS.OOO.OOO. and from ih* time It la be
gun will take about two years to com
