twenty-fourth nnnunl convention of the
Alabama Sunday School Association
begun at 2;30 o'clock thla afternoon
In the Klrat Baptlat church of Birming
ham. No lean than 1.000 church work-

church waa crowded when the first
meeting waa called to order. Dcle-

to reach Birmingham until tonight and
tomorrow, and when every one has ar
rived there will be between 1,500 and
2,000 visitors.
The convention was opened with de
votional exercises, led by the Rev. J. A.
Duncan, pastor of the Klrat Methodist
church of Birmingham. According to
the program one hour and a half will
be devoted to discussions on tho su
perintendent's work, and tho speakers

YOHLANDE DEGG GIVES BOND;
RELEASED FROM JAIL.

Gadsden, Ala., April 9.—Yohlande
Degg. the woman who has been In the
county Jail since last December, pend
ing a decision of the supreme court,
was today released on a $5,000 bond,
her case having been remanded for
trial. The Degg woman waa convicted
at the fall term of the city court, and
her punishment waa fixed at 23 years
In the penitentiary. She Je(t at noon
for Anniston, where she has property.

Turner, husband of Lillie Turner, tlte
young woman who was murdered on
Lookout Mountain, and who was the
last person seen with her, seems to
have dlsapijeared as completely as If
