Wolfe, a whisky dlgpenscr under the
new Cary-Cothran dlapenaary act.
wae arreated late last night on the
charge of embeaalement, having been
checked up $1,S00 short In hla accounts,
the alleged shortage occurring within
the past three weeks. The shortage
was discovered after his being dis
charged Tui ui'jnkenness. In the pe
riod In which the alleged shortage oc
curred Wolfe’s deposits were normal,
showing that If there was stealing It
must have been from the stock Itself.
Wolfe Is bonded In the sum of $5,000.
He says that his alleged shortage Is a
surprise to him, and that he does not
know how It happened. A thoro
Investigation Is to be made,, both
the state authorities' and the bonding
company.

National Baraca Union will be held In
Atlanta on April 11-17-11.

of Woolsey, a thriving little Fayette
county town about fifteen miles from
Orlllln, have organised a banking en
terprise with a capital stock of tlO.OAO

Georgia experiment station convened at

pointed to go to Waycross on April
20 and arrange for the acceptance of
the large syrup plant and fifty acres of
land donated by the United States goV'
ernment. Attorney General John C.
Hart will be Instructed at an early
Idate to prepare a contract for the lease
of 100 acres of land which the Spalding
County Realty Company proposes to ah
low the station to further experiment';.
This was done to prevent the removal
of the farm to Athena.

ten years ago, by M. A. Hudson, a
business man of Syracuse, N. Y., who
la still president of the organization.

wus organized by Miss Hudson, a
daughter of the Baracas’ president.
Tltc first Baraca claua Ip .1 .lunta was
established at the Baptist Tabernacle
on I.ut-kle street, four years ago. Since
that time the organization has extended
to practically every Sunday school In
the city and numbers several hundred
members. Sir. A. II. Caldwell Is presi
dent of the local union.
The last session of the Baracas was

Even the bringing of two witnesses

government failed to convict George
Haynes, a Hall county man, of trying
to pass “phony” money In the shape of
tl bills raised to $20, After being out
about a half hour the jury returned a
verdict Thursday afternoon abqulttlng
him.
Haynes was charged with attempt'
Ing to pass one of the bills on a Ma
rietta street barber and he claimed
that he did so In good faith and re
ceived the money from hla employer In
Oklahoma. It waa this employer an>1

to Atlanta, and bun denied that bad
money was given Haynes.

Chattanooga. Tenn., April 12.—The
fight for municipal ownerehlp of the

Rome. Ga., April 12.—Millard F.
Howell died Wednesday In a hospital In
Philadelphia, where he had been taking
a special course of treatment. The re
mains will be brought to Rome Satur
day morning and the Interment will
take place at Myrtle Hill cemetery.
