Newnan. Ga.. April 24.—The ad
journed term of Coweta superior court
was convened here Monday.
The case receiving moat attention
from the public Is that of the state
against Jake Haynes, charged with
murder. The alleged homicide was In
March, 1906. In the northern portion
of Coweta county. The deceased was
farther-ln-law of the defendant and
the alleged trouble between them was
at the home of the deceased and In the
presence of the wife of each. After
the difficulty the defendant left the
state and during the regular March
term of court came and surrendered
to the sheriff.
The defense Is that the deceased
came to hie death by reason of exces
sive use of whisky. The defendant
Is constantly attended by his wife and
his two beautiful children.
The case went to Jury at 8 o'clock
yesterday.

Suit Against Pscktr.
T. A. Willingham, a meat dealer at
145 Venable street, has filed suit for
12,000 damages against the Swift
Packing Company, upon the ground
that an agent of that company entered
his place of business and carried there
from a quantity of meat, butter, eggs,
etc The plaintiff charges that the
articles were removed without his con
sent and without any legal authority.

followed her husband to the door of

rectors of the Chamber of Commerce
asked for portraits of all the 1 ex-
presidents of the chamber. It was
decided to hold a conference of the ex-
presidents Wednesday to decide on the
portraits.

hibits of their work and the ex-
