After attending church Sunday night
In Howell Station, Ulss Alma Monroe,
a pretty lass of only 13 years, and Kos-
ter West, 15 years old, a merchant In
the Marietta rood, .eloped and were
married at the home of a minister.
Tliu parents pf the. girl, Mr. and Mrs.
E. K. Monroe, of T McDonough street,
P had not the slightest Intimation of the
intentions of the couple and were
greatly wrought up on learning of tha
- elopement. They have not seen their
f dHughter since the marriage, but learn
ed Monday morning that she Is with
her husband at the home of hla father,
In Howell Station.
Mrs. Monroe stated Monday morning
that she considers her daughter entirely
too young to be married, but that she
was undecided as to whether she would
take any steps to get her back homo
and away from her liunband.
Mr*. Monroe says West had not been
coming to her home to see the girl and
that she had no Idea tha child was
thinking of getting married. West has
known the girl for some time, the Mon
roe family having formerly resided neat
door to West's store In Howell Station.
West met hts girlish bride Sunday
night at church, the latter merely tell
ing her mother she was going out to the
service.

velopment. President Whitney denied

Union Telegraph Company of this city,
who 1* a brother of Percy O. Fonville,
arrested at Luverne, Ala., on the charge
of conspiracy In the embezzlement of
888,000 from the Charlotte, N. C., Na
tional Bank, denies that his brother
was hiding out from the officers and
points out that he was In Montgomery
or several, days, slopping at one of the
ending hotels and registered under his
right name. Fonville was arrested at
the home of hie father, J. C. Fon
ville, who Is one of the best known
men In Alabama. The accused ha» oev-

an Innocent victim and had no connec

James Harris, a, negro porter at the
Jackson hotel barber shop, (hot un.l
killed William Hilliard, a negro em
ployee at Durand’e depot restaurant.
Saturday night shortly after * o'clock.
Hilliard died on the operating table at
the Grady hospital. The shooting oc
curred at 308 Gilmer street, where
Harris Is said to have found his wife
and Hilliard drinking beer together.
The elayer was arrested.
