Viscount Ankl, the Japanese ambassa
dor at Washington, a protest against
the proposed exclusion treaty, or any
discrimination whatever against the
Japanese In America.

Association said:

“If certain classes of people from all
foreign countries are to be barred we
have nothing to say, but If the laboring
classes of Japan are to be kept out
while those from Southern and Eastern
Europe, who are certainly no more de
sirable than the Japanese coolies, are
to be permitted to enter the country
without restriction, we shall certainly
enter a most vigorous protest.
“And if It Is not heeded we are con
fident the Japanese government will
Join us In a protest that will be heeded.
It Is to give our protest the official
backing of our country that Mr. Taka-
shl and Mr. Onoda have been sent *o

riot among the prisoners who had hung
red flags out of the windows of their
cells and were rioting In the court yard.
One man was killed by a voiley from
the soldiers, after which they went
quietly back to their cells.

criminal court Thursday morning, but
on account of the lllnesa of the de

term of court.

latter to the effect that Mr. Turner’s

not possibly go to trial at this time.

Macon, Ga., May 2.—A report of the
■pedal committee on an ordinance pro-
vldlng for a change In the former ordl-
nancea giving permission to tho Atlan
ta, Griffin and Macon Klectrlc Com
pany and to tho Macon, Amcrlcua and
Albany Company was made to the city
council Monday night and was adopt
ed. Ily the adoption of (he report the
aecond ordinance providing for aeverul
changes In the routes through the
streets of the city was passed nnd In
return for the changes allowed by the
city the. roads will pay 120,000 each In
place of 220,000.
The new route mapped out by the
Atlantn, Gridin and Macon road for
operating In the city of Macon la over
a single track In the rear of Mercer,
crossing Ross and Cnlhoun streets to
llasel; on Hnsel street over double
tracks to Third to Hawthorne. Here a
single track will be laid through a
small street along Findlay's Foundry
to Arch to Third to Plum, where a sin
gle loop track between Plum and Pop
lar streets will be laid.
The new route of the Macon, Albany
nnd Amerlcus road will be ns follows;
Hntering the city at Klbert street to
Hawthorne to Third and connect with
the tracks of tha other road.
