The Walking Club met with Miss
Lillian McDaniel, Wednesday after
noon. A long tramp was Indulged In,
then the young ladles returned to the
home of Miss McDaniel and enjoyed
dainty refreshments.
The pretty new home of Dr. T. D.
McDaniel Is nearing completion.
HARALSON.
Mr X^ee Cagle, who has been in
Chicago for several months. Is at home,
rallefl here by the death of his father,
Mr. O. J. Cagle.
Mrs. Austin Blanton and her sister,
Mrs. Annie Dunlap, visited Haralson

Mrs. Annie Dunlap, of Ashburn. Ga.,
Is visiting her sister. Mrs. Austin
Blanton, near Haralson.
Mrs. J. D. Williams, of Zetella. Is
visiting her daughter, Mrs. Austin
Blanton, nnd made a brief visit to
Haralson Saturday.
Mrs. Gus Brooks visited her father,
Mr. T. W. Carlton, this week.
Mr. William Williams was taken
violently 111 with appendicitis last Sun
day at the residence of his father-in-
law, Mr. T. W. Carlton. He has so far
recovered as to be able to return
home.
Miss Annie Foster Is at hojne after
an absence of several months.
Mr. T. W. Callahan, of Carmel, was
In Haralson Saturday.
Miss Alva Callahan and her brother,
Raymond, attended service at the Bap
tist church here Sunday.
Mrs. Caldwell is at home again, after
an extended visit to her son

Mrs. Mary Callahan Is quite ill.
Mrs. Gus Brooks was the guest of
her mother, Afrs. T. W. Carlton, last
Saturday and Sunday.
Mr. Henry Brandenburg went to
Senoia Monday.

CHATTANOOGA.
Mrs. J. L. Caldwell entertained the
Book Readers' Club Monday afternoon
at her home on McCallle avenue. The
house was elaborately decorated In red,
carnations predominating.
Mrs. William E. Reynolds and Mrs.
Robert Davidson entertained at cards
Tuesday afternoon at the home of* the
latter on McCallle avenue. - Six-hand
euchre was played at ten tables.
Airs. Richard Watkins won the first
prise, Mrs. E. L. Bartlett the second
and Airs. E. B. Craig the third. The
hostesses were assisted in receiving

Miss Jennie Sisson entertained the
members of the Echo Club at the home

played, and the prizes .were won by
Mrs. James Sheehan. Mrs. W. F. Cav-
endar and Mrs. Henry Arnold. In ad
dition to the club members, the guests
were Mrs. Harry Van Dusen^ Mrs.
I^eroy Pettus. Mrs. Fred Lockwood and
Theresa DeGeorgis and Lucy Duncan.
Air. and Mrs. Garnett .Andrews enter
tained with a handsomely appointed
dinner party at their home on Vine
street Tuesday evening. The color
note of the decorations was yellow and
tulips were used In profusion. Covers
were laid for Air. and Mrs. James AI.

and Mrs. George D. Lancaster, Air. and
Mrs. James N. Johnston and Mr. and
Mrs. Garnett Andrews.
Society ladles of Chattanooga, both
matrons and maids, are much excited
over a contest for members of the City
Beautiful Club, now going on. The
ladies are divided Into three teams, the
Carnations, Violets and Forget-Me-
Nots. and each team Is striving hard to
secure the most members. It Is be
lieved that fully 1.000 will be induced
to Join the club before the contest ends.
Several handsome prizes will be award
ed the team making the best showing.

senior class of Bessie Tift last week.
The Lancaster hotel was the scene
of the festivities, and was appropri
ately decorated in the class colors for
the occasion.

Capt. W. H. Harrison and Mrs. Har

Airs. Allen Wilder has returned to
her home in Atlanta after a visit to
Forsyth relatives.

celebration of the golden wedding of

CARROLLTON.
An Interesting program was rendered by
the 17. D. CVs at the court house emorlal
Par; after which the public school teachers
ltd children, with a largo concourse of cltl-
sens and a few old soldiers laden with
wreaths and dowers marched to the city
cemetery, preceded by n brass band playing
n funeral dirge, and placed them on the
graves of our departed dead. The old sol
diers were then entertained at dluuer on
the court house grounds.
Mr. F. 8. Wilson, who lias been visiting
his mother, Mrs. I>. G. Wilson, left Fridny
for Springfield. Ohio.
Mrs. Charles ltoop and Mrs. Dr. Camp
spent: Thursday in AtlaMn.
Mr. B. U. Kramer left Saturday morning
to visit the scenes of his childhood

the convention, the members enjoyed a gar

home Is on the river bank, about 3 miles
from the city, and. a delightful feature of

Mrs. J. F. Mitchell complimented Miss
TlbinUne Alltcbell with a lovely handkerchief
shower Saturday afternoon. After the
guests were seated the strings to a pretty
pink parasol wen* pulled and pink hearts
and dainty 'kerchiefs showered down on the

and Ice course was served. Mrs. Mitchell

Airs. Frank Ansicy was hostess at a linen
shower Saturday afternoon In honor of Alisa
Ansley. The guests wen* requested to write
their favorite recipes on paper; these were
all gathered nnd hound In a book for the
bride-elect, who will use them as reference
when she goes to housekeeping. Delicious
refreshments were nerved.
