Goodwin, grand sec retary of the Sovereign Cl rand. Lodge of Odd Fellows, with headquarters in Bal timore, was in Atlanta the first of this week mil was warmly welcomed # baejt to his old home. He spoke at length on matters pertaining to the welfare of the order, and his remarks were enthu siastically received. Colonel Goodwin Expressed himself as being greatly pleased with the prog ress of the Atlanta lodges. The funeral benefit was raised to (200, and 850 on the death of a mem ber's wife. One candidate was put through the muddy waters. Resolutions of con dolence were adopted on the death ef the wife of Jesse Wiggins. Atlanta Dam Is In a prosperous con dition and has made rapid strides this term. Dallas, Texas, May 4.—The unsea sonable. weather which has prevailed In all ports of Texas during the past month has resulted In untold damage to crops of all kinds. To begin with, the green bugs practically destroyed the grain crop of the northern part of the Htate, and for the last thirty days the weather hns been so cold that most of the seed planted rotted In the ground. April, 1907, was the coldest April for Texas Hlnco tho establishment of tho weather bureau In this stole, mu! frost was reported in various polls of the state up until the first day of May.
