MONDAY. MAY 12. ISO - ..
THE*ATLANTA GEORGIA* AND NEWS.
WHERE SHALL WE GO?
Again the mighty question has arisen
for digestion.
Shall we spend ths summer season In
the country or ths town?
Shall we wander to the beaches with
Its oceanic reaches.
Where the landlord and the sun com
bine In doing people brown?
To the mountains shall we his us,
where with 'nobis thoughts ami
pious
We observe the mighty giants of a
prehistoric day?
Shall we climb the hilltop plucky wltb
the dew of Old Kentucky
As a liquid prop of courage to assist
us on our way?
But, no matter where you travel, over
dusty road or gravel.
Over sandy beach or hilltops, here's
a simple rule or two:
Be cool be clean, be quiet, eat a very
'.simple diet:
Do not get excited, let the other fel
low stew.

MEMORIAL JO MISS ANTHONY.
•The year 1808 will ever bo a'memo
rable one to American woman suffra
gists. for at their apnval convention In
Baltimore the presidents of the princi
pal women’s colleges In the United
Slates appeared upon their platform,
either to declare their belief In the
principle# of wornun suffrage or to
testify to their appreciation of what
Susan B. Anthony bad done to advunce
the education of women. Further, as
Miss Anthony was the guest of Miss
Garrett the confided to the latter that
one of her sorrows In leaving the work
was that she could no longcc.aaslst In
the ralelng of needed funds,.
Thereupon Miss Mary Garrett and
Mlsa M. Carey {Thomas, president of
Bryn Mawr College, both of whom had
made .possible the great college night
progrim of the convention, determined
to ralee a fund of IIS.OOO a year for five
years to ba used for euch work as waa
being left undone on account of tha
lack of money. Many thought this
could not be accomplished, but one of
the national officers, knowing Mlsa
Garrett nnd Mlse Thomas well, said:
"If M. Carey Thomna doee not succeed
In thle attempt It will bo the first thing
In which she Ima ever failed.’’ And
she spoke truly. Before May I, l»07.
the time set for completing the work,
the full amount wan raised.
Mlsa Garrett and Mlse Thomas,
chairman and treasurer, respectively,
of the committee, report that Jn almost
every case subscriptions to the fund
were given with the statement that It
was a delight to be able to contribute
to such a fitting memorial to Susan B.
Anthony, and tliut. Instead of being an
unpleasant task to raise the fund,
everyone who has taken part In It feels
that It boa been a graat privilege.
