A flower, a bird-note sweet;
Some easy trapplnis worn away;
Loose lateheta for our feet;
A wheaten loaf within our scrip;
For drink the hillside spring
And for true heart companionship
The love of loitering.
We want so much and yet we need
So very slight a store.
But In the age’s grip of greed
We hurry more and more.
The woodland waves Its gold-green
net;
The warm wind lasea by;
Can we forego? Can we forget?
Come, comraddb, let us try. '

An Interesting Review By An Atlanta Woman.
The Georgia friend* of Mrs. T. C.
Tupper, of Atlanta, will read with
much pleasure the following very In
teresting review of Lawson's novel re
cently published, "Friday, the Thir
teenth." Mrs. Tupper** review lately
appeared In The San Angelo (Texas)
Dally Standard. She says;
In reading this book which might be
called fact, not Action, It Is so true a
representation of objective conditions
today, und subjective realities In their
consequences, one Is strongly reminded
of the wild orgy of carnage In King
Etsel’s palace which Chrlemhild In
cited against Hagen to revenge Sieg
fried's wrongs. Bob Brownley's
crushing retaliation upon Khlnehart
seems like a cyclone of human pas
sion.
Amid ths msd melee of bulling and
bearing- stocks, suspending houses,
howls of despair, the ferocity of man Is
shown to be as cruel as that of his
congeners of the Jungle when pack
meets pack, ripping, tearing, killing.
Ths book la a great red lantern of
"Danger Here!" signaled above the
open ditch** dug by greed and avarice.
The condition* revealed arc enough
to appall the stoutest heart. When
w# see energy. Industry, ability slowly
achieve success and thsn to look on
at the colossal fortunes made In a day
by the gamesters of Wall street, the
millions of the exchange controlling
legislation—the last bastion of de
fense—until the Wall street ticker
sound* like a roll call of the senate at
Washington. Is enough to give pause
to the most optimistic believer In the
future of our republic.
Mr. Lawson has given us n sunverlty
picture of the staple Industries, food
stufTs, transportation stocks, etc., car-
rmled and driven, not at ths will of
the rapitallsL but of the gamester.
His warning Is not without sugges
tion of feasible methods of prevention.

Hiawatha and Minnehaha. Pocahontas

Japan, which was so admirably repre

one could Imagine the dork-eyed maid
ens. In kimonos and robe*, real Ori

but entirely Japanese, and the acrobat*

the customs of the country.
